John Wood abandoned the remnants of a fractured civilization, retreating to the wilderness after a global pandemic uprooted society. Solitary life in a modest cabin now defines his existence, as he seeks solace in nature's embrace. The loss of his wife, who perished in front of him while shielding hundreds from death, haunts his memories. Her execution was both retribution for his rebellion and a twisted recognition of his actions. Now, Maria Johnson flees a pandemic research facility, having participated in covert experiments to discover a cure. Her blood carries the key to salvation, yet she is pursued by ruthless mercenaries and opportunists who know her secret. When she stumbles upon John's cabin, she instinctively seeks refuge in his presence. Though he urges her to recover quickly and depart, an unspoken bond begins to form as he uncovers her hidden truths.
